Don’t believe the AI hype

Everyone needs to get a grip. AI is being hyped up to be a super-intelligent technology, but in reality, it’s not. AI, especially the kind that uses language models, isn’t intelligent like humans. It works by analysing patterns in the data it’s been trained on, so while it can generate text that sounds smart, it doesn’t understand what it’s saying.

Sure, AI can process language, pull from a vast pool of information, and even simulate a pretty convincing conversation. But it doesn’t grasp the context or meaning behind the words. It doesn’t feel emotions, have intentions, or think for itself. And despite interacting with us, it doesn’t learn in real-time - it’s just recycling what it already knows.

So while AI is useful and can do some impressive things, it’s important to remember that it’s not the same as human intelligence. It's not even close. It’s more like an advanced tool people can use rather than a thinking, conscious being. Keeping that in mind helps us appreciate what AI can actually do, without getting too caught up in the hype.
